Mortal Kombat 11 – What you need to know
On April 23rd 2019 the latest edition of the Mortal Kombat franchise was released worldwide, with fans screaming in happiness after waiting 4 years since when Mortal Kombat X was released. Mortal Kombat has been one of the classic fighting games since 1992 when the first edition was released. I remember when I was in elementary school, and I couldn’t wait to come home to play a few rounds before watching cartoons (and trying not to finish my homework…good times!).
After just a month from its release date, Mortal Kombat 11 has accomplished something that no other game managed to accomplish in over a decade! (Since that time in 2007 when Guitar Hero 2: Legends of Rock did it!)
In the month of April, Mortal Kombat 11 has been the best-selling game for all the 3 major consoles: Sony’s Playstation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. This is definitely a good sign when you are deciding whether to buy a game or not. If it has been a top seller on the top 3 consoles, it means it’s a must have!
Here’s a few things we know about the game so far:
The looks of today’s Mortal Kombat is worlds apart from its ’90s original release. But The Fight remains the main factor of the game. Based on 3 rounds of heavy hitting punches and kicks, fatalities and special moves you are trying to saving the universe from annihilation. You might win, or you might lose, and that’s the beauty of the game.
One of the great additions are Fatal Blows. These super moves are only available once you’re near death, and can win you a round with just one blow. Yes they are really powerful moves. But using the is not that easy. These are moves that are easy to spot from your opponent’s side, so you want to use them as combo enders for dramatic wins – or comebacks.
The interesting thing about Fatal Blows is that they can only be used once per match (most fighting games let you use your supers more than once per match), so you may want to save it for the final round if you are into strategising!
Mortal Kombat 11 looks and sounds fantastic. These are the best character models in the studio’s history and also the range of stages, which were always Mortal Kombats biggest strength, are looking incredible.
This is definitely a game to play and to buy as soon as you can!
