Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020

In this article I will tell you about the latest Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games game set to be released honouring the Tokyo 2020 olympic games and also about a very special retro game style mod that will be surely loved by us retro gaming fans! Let’s see what the fuss is about!

In 2020, when the Tokyo Olympic Games kick in, it will be 12 years since when Mario and Sonic have started appearing in the official video game for the Olympics. It is the 6th entry of the series and we are looking forward to seeing what Nintendo has in place for this wonderful game. Something very interesting, is that unlike the previous versions of the game, in this entry we will be able to play with the sprite versions of Mario and Sonic in some of the events. Check it out in this wonderful frame from the trailer!

In this mode, most of the characters will be able to compete in 10 events including the 100 meter sprint run (which obviously Sonic should be able to easily win 😉 ), the long jump, judo, volleyball and a few more. All of these events will take place in the 2D arena. The sprites used by the characters will be the original from Super Mario Bros 1985 for Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser and the original from Sonic The Hedgehog 2 from Sega for the Sonic characters.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games : Tokyo 2020 will launch on November 5th in North America and November 8th in Europe. Can’t wait to grab a copy of this entry!
